Gaia; help her help you help megaia --> mother earth in greek. How nice is that? I love the word. And I love what it means. Saving Gaia; the initiative by Mediacorp in lieu of Live Earth. Make a pledge to reduce, reuse and recycle and stand a chance to win prizes. Do your part for gaia; help her help you help me. sigh, how sad. Why is it that corporations/organisations that are trying to promote environmentally friendly initiatives have to use material lure? I understand that not everyone is as environmentally-conscious and passionate like me, but isn't it sad? We have to be motivated by material/monetary goods to make an effort to save the earth, when, shouldn't it be OUR responsibility?? Gaia gives us our existence, the very reason why we, humankind, is alive and very well living. What the hell is wrong with us? Why can't we help her to help us? This is not a burden, not unnecessary, it is an obligation that we all should fulfil. Sigh, I guess we simply cannot expect everyone to care for the environment, but what we can do is try to spread awareness. Thus there was Live Earth. Perhaps it was good, everyone was talking about it. However, it seemed as though what was looked forward to in the concerts were the singing and singers. Fair enough, there were many advertisements beforehand asking us to ANSWER THE CALL. Perhaps a little to complex? Did it reach out and did audiences understand the message? I would agree that it was even on MSN, all over the papers and media, is that not enough reach? But, how many people really got it? Actually, I think that is the problem with every advert, no one really knows. All we can measure is the reach it has attained, is that I have stuck enough posters all over Singapore even stuck one up someone's nose (kidding). But I cannot be sure the man on the street understands what I am talking about when I talk about Live Earth. All right, enough about Live Earth and the depressing stuff. When the environment becomes your thing, you will understand my feelings. Anyway, I saw this fat/chubby tall boy walking in front of me today. He was actually skipping, haahs so cute. Then later, itchy fingers as always, he went to tug at the palm trees (? they're short else he would not have reached them but I do not know what tree exactly), and what should happen? One of the whole "brunch" of leaves fell and he was in shock. Immediately, he turned back to check if anyone saw his "dirty deed". I looked down, but could not help smiling. Hahaha, damn amusing can! Thinking back though, should I have been laughing or fuming? Hello, he just pulled down one whole "brunch" of leaves! The plant needed the leaves to breathe and make food to survive and feed all the other animals/organisms that depended on it! I should have been angry and gone up to scold him. But no, I laughed. Then again, I was thinking if it meant to fall down, it was meant to happen. I just hope the boy is feeling guilty at home. This is what happens when you believe in both fate/destiny and being environmentally-friendly at the same time, they clash sometimes... Okay, let's not dwell on it anymore. Anyway I should be doing my microeconomics project now. I shall stop blogging. Think about what I said; environment, it's our duty. Gaia-<33
